Strike It Up! Dance Studio |MissSIU

Miss/Mr SIU is a summer scholarship program that was devised to recognize a particular individual for ther outstanding achievement within the studio. The faculty looks for qualities within this individual such as: professional work ethic, teamwork skills, positive attitude, cooperation and leadership skills. As a faculty, we determine at the end of the season which individual has most displayed these qualities on a consistent basis. The recipient receives their summer education free of charge in every capacity of the Artistic Center, in addition, the responsibility of setting a good example to the rest of the center. We feel that this is a high honor to hold within this studio and hope that every student aspires to strive for the qualities the past and present recipients have achieved.

I am seventeen years old and a Junior at Webster Thomas High School. I've been dancing for four years at Strike It Up! Artistic Center. I have become very passionate about dancing and feel lucky that I have been able to grow and learn so much at SIU. Currently, my favorite styles of dance are lyrical/contemorary, broadway, and jazz. I am thinking of majoring in dance in college when I graduate high school. One of my favorite quotes is, " Nobody cares if you dance well, just get up and dance."

DYLAN WINKLER
MR SIU 2008

My names Dylan, I'm currently 16 years old, but turning 17 shortly and I am a junior at Wayne Central High School. I've only been dancing for about five years and I love it! Lyrical, contemporary and hip hip are the styles of dance i enjoy the most. I am currently on the Travel Team for Strike it up, and i really enjoy it. I have made so many new friends and dance has really changed my life. I hope to one day continue with dance, but my true goal is to go to an art school, and someday make it big in the world. As Henry David Thoreau once said, "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined."
